Anthem players have something new to dive into today, with the launch of its long-awaited and delayed Cataclysm update.
BioWare announced update 1.3.0 which released the Cataclysm endgame event. after the update, the Cataclysm is availbale on Anthem's main menu, and is unlocked for any player who completed the "Incursion" main story mission.
In Cataclysm, players fight Var Brom and her forces in a multi-week endgame event. Teams that take on Cataclysm will have the opportunity to unlock new rewards and work their way up the leaderboards. Along with the Cataclysm story missions and game mode, there are several new features included with the event.
BioWare previously detailed Cataclysm during a livestream in May. The event will be eight weeks long with three new missions and a new Cataclysm area. Cataclysm is almost like a time-attack mode where players brave a massive storm to enter safe zones, which they must then complete by defeating enemies or completing challenges.
The goal is to fight through the storm and defeat Vara. Along the way there are multipliers and secrets paths to help better their scores and earn a top spot on the leaderboard.
Cataclysm was supposed to be live back in May as its first event. BioWare teased that Cataclysm will have a big impact on Anthem’s meta, but it’s been so long since we’ve seen Cataclysm that it’s unclear if this will still be the case.
Hopefully, Cataclysm marks the start of a new chapter for Anthem.
