Andy Serkis will replace Ruben Fleisher as the director of Venom 2. While Sony hasn't confirmed on his hiring, Serkis posted on Instagram that he will indeed direct the symbiote’s superhero sequel.

Andy Serkis is best known for his roles in The Planet of The Apes, Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit trilogy and his involvement in Avengers: Age of Ultron and Black Panther as Ulysses Klaue. He also directed Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle, and Breathe.
Tom Hardy will reprise his role as Eddie Brock, Cletus Kasady as Woody Harrelson and Michelle Williams as Eddie Brock's ex- fiancee. Andy Serkis will direct Venom 2 using the script of Kelly Marcel, who co-wrote the first Venom movie with Scott Roseberg and Jeff Pinkner.
The original movie’s post-credits scene also hinted the appearance of Carnage, Venom’s nemesis whose human form, Cletus Kasady was played by Woody Harrelson. The original Venom film was a box office success which makes its sequel no surprise, the film grossed $850 million globally.
Venom 2 will be released in theaters on October 2, 2020
