Creator Jason Rotherberg announced on Twitter that 'The 100' will end after its upcoming Season 7 in 2020, The news comes just days ahead of Tuesday's Season 6 finale.

The show ending doesn't mean that it's being cancelled rather it is ending on its own terms, with CW president Mark Pedowitz telling critics that Rotherberg always hoped to end the series after Season 7.  CW renewed almost its entire lineup for the 2019-2020 season, except for Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Jane the Virgin, and iZombie, which were already scheduled to end after their most recent seasons.

Rothenberg wrote, "With The 100 Season 6 finale just days away, I have some bittersweet news to share: Season 7 will be our last. We are eternally grateful to WB & CW for always allowing us to tell our story the way we want to & to wrap the show on our terms. What an incredible ride this has been!"

Rotherberg also revealed that the series would conclude with 100 episodes, meaning the final season will consist of 16 episodes.

The 100 is not the only CW series that is ending in 2019-2020 season, Arrow will wrap up following its eighth season, which will consist of just 10 episodes, and Supernatural will conclude after 15-seasons, a move that was first announced back in March.
