Microsoft has just announced that it's giving its home screen and voice command features a complete overhaul in its next interface update.

An Xbox wire post reports that the new update will have "a faster Home experiece" and "Xbox voice commands to improve the voice experience." Both features aren't available to all Xbox Insiders just yet. The new Home is rolling out to the Alpha and Alpha Skip Ahead ring and the voice commands available only to the Alpha Skip Ahead ring. Sadly, those who are not enrolled in Xbox Insiders will have to wait, as there is still no confirmation on when the changes will be made public for everyone.

Redesigned Home

The new Home will "deliver an easy and seamless experience for you to navigate your console," Xbox Wire writes. With the new home layout, you'll be able to get into your video games faster and keep your content at the front of the Home experience. The new experience also removes the scrolling options from the top for things like Community, Store, and Mixer for dedicated buttons underneath the selected piece of content on the left side of the screen. The tilesets also look a little larger than the system's current Home design.

The brand new Home design will be available this week for Xbox Insiders part of the Alpha and Alpha Skip Ahead rings.

Voice Commands

Microsoft also announced a big change to Xbox One's voice commands, with the objective being to "further commands on Xbox and away from on-console experiences to cloud-based assistant experiences," This means that Cortana will be inaccessible via headset, instead they'll have to use the Cortana app on an Android, iOS, or Windows device, Alexa or Harmon Kardon Invoke speakers.

Like the Home Design experience, the new voice command updates will arrive this week and are available to the Alpha Skip Ahead ring. According to Xbox Wire, new voice commands will "fully rollout to all users this fall" but is unclear if that means the Alpha Ring or all Xbox Insiders.
