If you have been hoping that Marvel and Sony might work out some deal that would allow Spider-Man to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe after they severed ties a few weeks ago, you'll be disappointed to hear that its not happening.
According to Variety, Sony Pictures chairman and CEO Tony Vinciquerra said that “for the moment the door is closed.” Vinciquerra said that there is “no ill will” between Sony and Marvel, which is could be a good sign that perhaps in the future Spider-Man might return to the MCU.
“We had a great run with [Kevin Feige] on Spider-Man movies,” Vinciquerra said. “We tried to see if there’s a way to work it out….the Marvel people are terrific people, we have great respect for them, but on the other hand, we have some pretty terrific people of our own. Kevin didn’t do all the work.”
This is not a good news for the web slinger fans, but still the franchise will continue at Sony with Tom Holland as Spider- Man. SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME arrives on Digital on September 17th, followed by a release on Blu-ray on October 1, 2019.
