Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige revealed new details about filming Avengers Endgame.
During a Q&A with Empire, Feige revealed that the massive cast got together on October of 2017 to shoot the funeral scene at the end of Avengers: Endgame, the same day that they shot the 10th anniversary photo as well.
Feige said, "That's why we did that photo then, because we had everybody there. And it was astounding, having all those actors there, and it's very solemn in the movie, because they're all great actors, it's very effective. On the day it was just insane."
The gathering created confusion among some of the cast members who didn't recognize the other MCU characters, since Tony's funeral was shot before Infinity War, Black Panther, Captain Marvel and Ant-Man and the Wasp.
One of those confused members was Paltrow who played Pepper Potts, love interest of Tony Stark. In the interview, Feige said that the actress didn't know why Samuel L. Jackson - Nick Fury was there.
“Tom Holland [was] coming up to me, saying "Is that Michelle Pfeiffer? What is happening?” he said. “Gwyneth Paltrow [was] asking why Sam Jackson was there, and the other actors [were] jumping in saying, ‘What are you talking about? He’s Nick Fury! You’ve been in movies with him.’ But it was really something special.”
It would be fair to note that their characters hadn't shared a scene together in past Marvel movies, but at that point, Paltrow and Jackson had been costars in Iron Man 2 and The Avengers, and would later co-star in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. Jackson also appeared in an end credits scene of Iron Man which Paltrow starred in.
This isn't the first time Paltrow has been completely unaware of happenings in the MCU. Earlier this summer, Paltrow made headlines for forgetting that she was in Marvel's Spider-Man: Homecoming.
“We were in Spider-Man together,” Favreau says to Paltrow at one point during an episode of Netflix series, The Chef Show. "Remember we were on Spider-Man?"
“We weren’t in Spider-Man,” Paltrow replies, adding, “No, I was in Avengers…”
"Oh yes, That was Spider-Man! Oh my God!" she exclaimed upon remembering.
Tom Holland later joked about Paltrow's forgetfulness.
“I mean, I’ve only worked with Gwyneth one time, on Spider-Man: Homecoming, which she doesn’t remember. Which still to this day breaks my heart,” the actor said during a trivia game on PopSugar.
Paltrow revelead before the release of Avengers: Endgame that the blockbuster would be her last movie with Marvel.
